JOZINI - 2 July 2016 - The Pongolapoort Dam as seen from opposite the town of Jozini in northern KwaZulu-Natal. Built in 1973, this arch dam was the laargest in South Africa at the time of its construction. The Pongola river is the main river that feeds into the reservoir behind the dam wall, commonly known as Lake Jozini. The primary purpose of the dam was for irrigation.
